The locals all told us not to take the Coastal Highway, but we didn't listen and we are glad we did. There is some beautiful scenery on this bumpy, muddy road.
Had an awesome week fishing off the coast of Belize. This should be on every anglers bucket list. Before you go make sure and contact capt George Bradley. He is a veteran captain on the island of Ambergris Caye. He's one of the most knowledgeable guides I've ever fished with. I would also recommend booking a reef diving excursion. Make sure and ask your guide to make ceviche while you're on the trip. You won't be disappointed.
We had an amazing vacation in Belize from January 11 to January 20, 2014. We were invited on our friends, Silvie and Eduarado Furtado's boat "Bonac Witch II" and we were sailing with them around the Belize coast. This vacation was much different than any other vacation so far, because we have never sailed on a boat and we will never forget the beautiful sea views, sunrises and sunsets, the warm friendly atmosphere on the boat and the hospitability of our hosts, Silvie and Eduardo.

Transiting through a barrier reef can be stressful even if it has a dredged channel. Can you be sure all the navigational markers are in place and are they lit at night? Watch as a ship with a FarSounder-1000 exits the barrier reef off the coast of Belize. This was a dark night with quite a bit of chop. 3D forward looking sonar helps you navigate safely. FarSounder's sonars can be used for ship navigation and are installed on Yachts, Cruise Ships, OSVs, Survey Vessels and Research Vessels. Our navigations sonars can be used for obstacle avoidance out to 1000 meters (1/2 nautical mile) range. Learn more at www.farsounder.com
